After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Campbell County, the South-Doyle Cherokees were happy to have found some success on Friday. They managed a 49-45 victory over Loudon.
South-Doyle found their leader in underclassman Payton Rollins, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Rollins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.
South-Doyle's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-11. As for Loudon, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-7.
South-Doyle will take on Sequoyah at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Sequoyah is ranked 280th, while South-Doyle is ranked 268th). As for Loudon, they will head out on the road to challenge Sweetwater at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sweetwater focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Tuesday.
