After 11 games on the road, Montverde Academy is heading back home. The Montverde Academy Eagles and the D DME Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Montverde Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 matches -- so hopefully D likes a good challenge.
Montverde Academy is ranked highly in their home state, and on Sunday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Prolific Prep of Napa Christian. Montverde Academy managed a 76-71 victory over Prolific Prep of Napa Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Montverde Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam McNeeley, who scored 22 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McNeeley has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cooper Flagg, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Winston-Salem Christian National scored an imposing 67 points on Sunday, D still came out on top. D took their game against Winston-Salem Christian National 74-67.
Montverde Academy's victory bumped their record up to 19-0. As for D, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
