Section 8 Conference II recap October 8, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Westbury, who took down 552nd ranked Herricks, 40-6.
Wantagh's mike ferraro recorded the longest rushing play in Section 8 Conference II this season in his game against Calhoun last week. Ferraro ran for 80 yards on the play and finished with 140 on the day as his team defeated the Colts.
Wantagh's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. stephen killard threw for 83 and 2 touchdowns and chris burke had 45 yards receiving. On the ground ferraro chipped in 140 yards. dan devine helped Wantagh's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 20 yards.
Ferraro was a passing and rushing force as keith sachs' team topped Calhoun.
Ferraro was the best running back in the league this week. Vinny Vasheo also contributed to the rushing game with 25 yards on the ground.
Wantagh's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Warriors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Killard has thrown for 352 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while brett neuman has 4 catches for 74 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Elmont Memorial takes on Carey. The Spartans are currently in fifth, while the Seahawks are in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Elmont Memorial takes on Carey. Jay Hegi's team has allowed 41 points this season, while the Seahawks have given up 13.
The Spartans scaled the state rankings by moving to 331 from 385 this week, the biggest jump in Section 8 Conference II. Elmont Memorial was able to move up by besting Mepham 27-15.
