Football Recap: Hickory Comes Up Short on the Road Against South Point + How To Watch

Hickory had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the South Point Red Raiders by a score of 27-25 on Friday. The Red Tornadoes lost against the Red Raiders in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 48-13 score last time.

Despite the loss, Hickory still got an impressive performance from Jaheem Jenkins, who rushed for 151 yards and three TDs. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

South Point found their leader in sophomore Kaveaun Pless, who rushed for 200 yards and four scores.

Hickory has already played their next game, a 63-14 win against Alexander Central on the 29th. As for South Point, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on T.C. Roberson at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
