Leading Aquinas to victory were Madeline Murphy and Samantha Davis. Murphy scored 22 points along with three steals, while Davis scored 22 points along with six assists and four steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Dobbins, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Sparta's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elexa Jones, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Kylie Burton was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Aquinas pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.5 points. As for Sparta, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aquinas will take on Edgewood at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Edgewood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests. As for Sparta, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tomah at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Tomah is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
