Lafayette waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Shelbyville Golden Bears.
While Lafayette won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-21.
Jaiden Vanover paced Lafayette's offense, picking up four kills. Vanover really made an impact as he also led the team in assists with 11. Ben Marsh controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Lafayette pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, Lafayette and Shelbyville will both be playing Guerin Catholic the next time they take the court. The Golden Bears will head out to face the Golden Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Generals will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
