There's no place like home for The Mount Dora Hurricanes, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They breezed by Tavares at home to the tune of 40-7. The result was nothing new for Mount Dora, who have now won three games by 33 points or more so far this season.
Mount Dora's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jake Sepe led the charge by throwing for 267 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Tanner Waring, who picked up 144 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mount Dora's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.8 points per game. As for Tavares, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3.
Mount Dora will look to defend their home field on Friday against Eustis at 7:00 p.m. Eustis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Mount Dora likes a good challenge. As for Tavares, they will head out on the road to face off against Vanguard at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Vanguard presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tavares in Florida (Vanguard is ranked 59th, while Tavares is ranked 375th).
