Gilmour Academy and Chagrin Falls are an even 2-2-2 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gilmour Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Gilmour Academy came up short against Riverside and fell 6-2. The contest marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Gilmour Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Dinehart, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Chagrin Falls and Beachwood meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Tigers came out on top against the Bison by a score of 12-7.
Mia Beavers made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Beavers was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Chagrin Falls got a massive performance out of Megan Shisila, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Nightwine, who went 4-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Chagrin Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .425. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Chagrin Falls' win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Gilmour Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.
Chagrin Falls' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gilmour Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Chagrin Falls, though, as they've been averaging 12.5 hits. Given Gilmour Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Tigers will need to find a way to close that gap.
