The Heritage Christian Eagles pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 77-56 walloping at the hands of North Central. While losing is never fun, Heritage Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while North Central is ranked ninth).
Heritage Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Luke Peters and Cole Louden. Peters scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Louden scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Daniel J greene, who scored 14 points.
Jaxson Bell was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists for North Central. Chrishon Woodward was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Heritage Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for North Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Heritage Christian will head out on the road to face off against University at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully University focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for North Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lawrence Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Lawrence Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
