The Woodcreek Timberwolves had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They really took it to Yuba City for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-36 victory at home. That 37 point margin sets a new team best for Woodcreek this season.
Woodcreek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Hennessey out in front who scored 14 points along with two steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Joey Nielsen, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Yuba City still got an impressive performance from Saleem Rafiq, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Yuba City struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Woodcreek pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Woodcreek is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Yuba City, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodcreek will take on Inderkum at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Inderkum knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Woodcreek likes a good challenge.
