The Sparks Railroaders will be playing at home against the Wooster Colts at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Sparks focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
Last Friday, Sparks had to suffer through a rough 83-47 loss at the hands of the Hawks. Sparks was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-19.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jaoquin Tagulao, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Flores, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Wooster sidestepped the Vikings for a 53-50 win.
Wooster got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamal Gaitor out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jared Marquicias, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Sparks has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 14 of their last 16 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Wooster, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Sparks have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wooster struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Sparks suffered a grim 63-42 defeat to the Colts when the teams last played last Wednesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Marquicias, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Now that Sparks knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
