Mason County Eastern extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-10 in the process. They took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the White Cloud Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Wednesday.
Eric Vercshuren was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Ron Hassenbank was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and three stolen bases.
As for White Cloud, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On White Cloud's side, Ayden Hensley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hensley also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because White Cloud is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Hensley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brady Strait was incredible, going 1-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. White Cloud is 2-1 when Strait posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Steven Zook, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
