North Shore and Sterling are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will square off against the Rangers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
North Shore will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against MacArthur on Saturday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Generals with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Mustangs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
North Shore got a massive performance out of Sebastian Figueroa, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Figueroa a new career-high. Zion Ashford also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
North Shore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Sterling made easy work of Harlan on Friday and carried off an 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Oscar Aguillon tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
At the plate, Rafael Romo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Noah Marron, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
The win made it two in a row for Sterling and bumps their season record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for North Shore, their record is now 2-8-1.
North Shore couldn't quite get it done against Sterling in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 as they fell 10-5. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
