The Depew Wildcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Nichols Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Depew couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 51-36 bruising from Randolph on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Nichols' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 65-58 to Bishop Kearney. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their loss, Nichols saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Madisen Wilson, who scored 21 points, was perhaps the best of all. Wilson scored a full 36.2% of Nichols' points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brianna Barr-Buday, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Depew's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Nichols, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-6 record last season and are now at 1-3.
