This season hasn't been kind to the Austwell-Tivoli Redfish, who are still winless after their fourth match. They took a serious blow against Pettus on Tuesday, falling 70-24. If Austwell-Tivoli hoped to take revenge for the 60-32 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Hayleigh Cruz was her usual excellent self, scoring 32 points along with six assists and six steals for Pettus. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cruz has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Carmen Cantu, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Austwell-Tivoli dropped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.7 points per game. As for Pettus, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 17-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Austwell-Tivoli will take on Moulton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Moulton's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Austwell-Tivoli's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Pettus, they will head out on the road to challenge Waelder at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Waelder is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
