Baseball Recap: Apopka Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Apopka's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the University Cougars get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. Considering the Blue Darters have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor McAfee looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Timothy (Jez) Hamrick was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Saunders, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Apopka hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive contests.

Apopka is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for University, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apopka will venture away from home to square off against Horizon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for University, they will head out to face off against East River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
