The Sand Point Eagles/Lady Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Dillingham 42-37. Sand Point was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dillingham apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
When it comes to explaining why Sand Point lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rowdy Tripp. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. Tripp has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Calugan, who scored seven points.
Sand Point has fallen quite a ways from their 12-6 record last season and are now at 2-5. As for Dillingham, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4.
Sand Point on the road again on Saturday and play against Tanalian at 10:30 a.m. on January 27th. Dillingham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
