The Southview Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 11th straight loss. They fell 44-37 to Bowsher. Southview was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bowsher apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Despite the loss, Southview saw an underclassman step up: Lacie Filas scored ten points along with three steals. Filas has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Rigg, who scored five points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Southview were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Southview's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Bowsher, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Southview won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Clay at 7:15 p.m. on January 25th. Clay is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Bowsher, they will be playing at home against Wauseon at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Wauseon is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
