The Union Parish Farmers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Sterlington Panthers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Panthers 78-73. Union Parish's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
Cooper Nelson was his usual excellent self, scoring 36 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks for Sterlington. Nelson has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Khristian Johnson, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds.
Union Parish has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Sterlington, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-12.
Union Parish will be playing at home against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sterlington will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on February 16th.
