Softball Game Preview: Notre Dame Irish vs. Lawrence Cardinals

Notre Dame has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lawrence recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Irish will challenge the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Notre Dame's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Lawrence's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Notre Dame fell victim to Hightstown and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The game marked the first time this season in which the Irish were not able to get on the board.

While Lawrence didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Trenton Central with a sharp 11-1 win on Tuesday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Lawrence and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Notre Dame skirted past Lawrence 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
