Legacy has won four straight games at home, while Garfield has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Tigers will host the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Legacy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over South East.
Savannah Medina made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Legacy let Katelen Pedroza and Natalie Gonzalez run wild. Pedroza went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one double, and one RBI, while Gonzalez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Those two runs gave Gonzalez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adamary Leon, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Garfield made easy work of Huntington Park on Friday and carried off a 21-8 victory.
Like Legacy, Garfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Nadia Carrillo. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carrillo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Valerie Valencia was a standout: she scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Maddie Velasco, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Garfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Garfield, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Legacy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Garfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .423. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Legacy might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Garfield in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
