After a string of six wins, The Crete-Monee Warriors''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by Kankakee 42-0. The low total for Crete-Monee limited their streak of high-flying scores to six in a row.
Kankakee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tony Phillips, who rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also picked up 43 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of James Stampley, who gained 129 total yards and four touchdowns.
Crete-Monee's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Kankakee, their victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Crete-Monee will head out on the road to face off against Centennial at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kankakee, they will be playing at home against Bremen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bremen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Kankakee is ranked 15th).
