Softball Game Preview: Hebron Hawks vs. Flower Mound Jaguars

The Hebron Hawks will square off against the Flower Mound Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hebron's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Braswell. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Kate Buesing made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Haylee Epps was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Lilly Pirrello was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Hebron hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Flower Mound). They blew past Coppell 16-1 on Friday. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Cowboys recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Hebron's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Flower Mound, their win bumped their record up to 10-5-1.

Hebron beat Flower Mound 9-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Hebron repeat their success, or does Flower Mound has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
