The Grant Pacers will head out on the road to face off against the Rocklin Thunder at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Grant knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Rocklin likes a good challenge.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Grant walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 40-14 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for Grant, who have now won ten games by 26 points or more so far this season.
Wayshawn Parker was his usual excellent self, rushing for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Parker was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Devin Green also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Rocklin waltzed into Saturday's game with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 17-6 win over St. Mary's.
Rocklin found their leader in underclassman Reeve Slone, who rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Their wins bumped Grant to 11-2 and Woodcreek to 11-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Grant has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 220.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rocklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 173.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches. Grant might still be hurting after the 29-7 loss they got from Rocklin when the teams last played back in October of 2021. Thankfully for Grant, Anthony Johnston (who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
