Scott has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Scott Eagles and the North Oldham Mustangs will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Scott came up short against Aiken and fell 57-49. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Scott has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Dylan Giffen, who scored 14 points. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xarek Sarakatsannis, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Oldham pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were outmatched by Male on the road and fell 87-58. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as North Oldham came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Male is ranked 41st).
Scott has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for North Oldham, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2.
Scott was able to grind out a solid win over North Oldham in their previous matchup back in December of 2015, winning 62-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Scott since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
