The biggest upset of the week belonged to Pine Crest, who took down 200th ranked Pine Crest, 41-26. Johnston McKenna ran for 149 yards and caught two passes for 37 yards in the win.
Benjamin extended the longest winning streak in Southeastern - North this week by beating the Panthers, 41-26. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Pine Crest's dynamic duo of Zach Smlth and Kalvin Cline proved tough for Benjamin to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smlth threw for 234 yards and four touchdowns and Cline had 106 yards receiving. Lance Crawford helped Pine Crest's passing attack out by catching three balls for 95 yards.
On the ground, Ron Ream's team's McKenna has rushed for 812 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Nick Marill. The Coral Springs Charter star has 22 catches for 466 yards.
Next week's game between John Carroll Catholic and Jim Pletcher's team will feature a tantalizing aerial matchup as Jordan Watkins tests his arm against Alex Welch's defensive ability. So far this year the Rams' Watkins has 1219 yards and 10 touchdowns to his credit, while Welch has notched five interceptions for the Panthers.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Pine Crest takes on John Carroll Catholic. As it stands, the Panthers are in second, while Mike Watkins' team is in fourth.
The Buccaneers moved up to 221 from 303 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Southeastern - North. Benjamin was able to make the jump by beating Pine Crest 41-26.
