Basketball Recap: North Myrtle Beach Extends Winning Streak to Three

North Myrtle Beach put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 63-54 victory over the Topsail Pirates. Given the Chiefs' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 12th in South Carolina, while the Pirates are ranked 169th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Myrtle Beach's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Faith Farmer led the charge by going 12 for 20 on her way to 27 points and four steals. Farmer's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Madison Vereen was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards.

Topsail lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryan Lambert, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Lambert continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Dabideen, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points.

North Myrtle Beach's record is now 3-0. As for Topsail, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

North Myrtle Beach didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-39 win against Laney on the 4th. As for Topsail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-15 victory against Northside - Jacksonville on the 6th.
