Evergreen had lost eight straight, but after bumping their record up to 10-12 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Ottawa Hills Green Bears. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Lanae Manz and Peyton Mossing were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Manz tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Mossing struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last nine games. At the plate, Manz went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Mossing went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Wohlgamuth was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Leah McVey was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Evergreen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ottawa Hills only posted an OBP of .174.
As for Ottawa Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Ottawa Hills' side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aurora Puskala, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Another was Alexa Potts, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Evergreen didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-5 loss against Jefferson on the 13th. As for Ottawa Hills, they have also already played their next game, a 17-7 defeat against Margaretta on the 12th.
