The Kongiganak Wolverines were the 56-55 winner over the Lewis Angapak Blue Jays when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Kongiganak took a serious blow against the Blue Jays on Friday, falling 86-54. Kongiganak was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.
Sam Lewis and Jarrett Brown certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lewis scored 15 points, while Brown scored 12 points. It was the first time this season that Lewis scored 15 or more points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lewis Angapak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashton White, who scored 33 points. White is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Castel, who scored 29 points.
Kongiganak's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Lewis Angapak, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kongiganak won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Falcons at 9:00 a.m. on January 20th. Chief Paul Memorial knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully the Wolverines like a good challenge.
