The Aucilla Christian Warriors's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wakulla Christian School Saints at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Aucilla Christian beat Cornerstone Academy 60-51. Aucilla Christian pushed the score to 49-26 by the end of the third, a deficit Cornerstone Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aucilla Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ben Gamalero, who scored 17 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Gamalero scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Bass, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Wakulla Christian School, who are still winless after their 12th contest. They took a 73-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jefferson County on Saturday.
Despite their defeat, Wakulla Christian School saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Seth Barwick, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Jackson Lawhon was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Aucilla Christian's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Wakulla Christian School, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-12.
Thursday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Aucilla Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wakulla Christian School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Aucilla Christian strolled past Wakulla Christian School in their previous meeting on Thursday by a score of 66-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aucilla Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
