Softball Game Preview: Cuero Gobblers vs. San Antonio Memorial Minutemen

Cuero has gone a perfect 5-0 against San Antonio Memorial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cuero Gobblers will welcome the San Antonio Memorial Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cuero has four straight victories, San Antonio Memorial has 13 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Cuero barely beat Victoria East the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Cuero's pitcher stepped up to hand Victoria East a 9-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Gobblers have won five matches by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Natalie Taylor's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

At the plate, Cuero let Audrey Kremling and Julianna Cox run wild. Kremling went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Cox went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was Kremling's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Kubesch, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Cuero lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, San Antonio Memorial came up short against Dilley on Tuesday, falling 16-1.

Cuero's win bumped their record up to 10-4-1. As for San Antonio Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Cuero's way against San Antonio Memorial in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Cuero made off with a 10-0 victory. Will Cuero repeat their success, or does San Antonio Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
