While losing is never fun, Atchison County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Jefferson County North is ranked 111th).
Atchison County's loss on Monday came despite strong showings from Kinzee Bauerle and Madison Martin. Bauerle scored 18 points along with three steals, while Martin scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Bauerle has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
Atchison County has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Jefferson County North, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
