After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Madison Central, the Velma Jackson Falcons were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took down St. Andrew's Episcopal 39-24. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Velma Jackson also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Leading Velma Jackson to victory were Joel Fleming and J'Ashton Williams. Fleming scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds, while Williams scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cameron Tate, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Velma Jackson's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-5. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Velma Jackson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Canton at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. Canton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Velma Jackson in Mississippi (Canton is ranked third, while Velma Jackson is ranked 183rd). St. Andrew's Episcopal will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McAdams at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th.
