Ripon (Calif.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat Hilmar (Calif.), 42-7, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Josh McCreath in the second quarter, the Indians led 21-7 at the half.
Ripon expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. RHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Kyle Wengel to
Michael Morris.
With the win the Indians extended their winning streak to eight games. Ripon defeated the Huskies 35-27 last week.
Wengel was the top performer for RHS. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns.
The Yellowjackets' lone touchdown came on a 3-yard run in the second quarter.
Hilmar came in allowing just 15.1 points per game this season. HHS struggled against the Indians, which came in averaging 44.6 points per game. Ripon went into the matchup giving up only 11.1 points per game. The Yellowjackets' seven points were well below their season average of 31.4 per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which Hilmar took, 49-13.
The loss comes after Hilmar defeated Riverbank 36-6 last week. The loss snapped HHS's 2-game winning streak.
In a Trans Valley game next week Ripon (8-0) takes on Riverbank, and Hilmar (6-2) will go up against Escalon also in a Trans Valley game.
