The Mayfield Panthers lost against the Stillwater Warriors back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Mayfield was the victim of a rough 66-40 loss at the hands of Stillwater. While losing is never fun, Mayfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Stillwater is ranked 157th).
When it comes to explaining why Mayfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cloey Dopp. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points. The game was Dopp's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Abigail Chest was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Mayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Stillwater, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayfield will face off against Northville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northville is on a three-game streak of home wins, Mayfield a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Stillwater, they will head out on the road to face off against Cambridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
