If the HEARTS for Jesus Christ Guardians were feeling good off their 77-20 takedown of Non Varsity Opponent last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. HEARTS for Jesus Christ suffered a tough 50-24 defeat at the hands of Central Christian on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points HEARTS for Jesus Christ has scored all season.
Maria Cottenden and Alex Zelenka certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Cottenden almost dropped a double-double on 12 rebounds and nine blocks, while Zelenka scored five points along with 11 rebounds. Cottenden has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last four times she's played.
HEARTS for Jesus Christ's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5. As for Central Christian, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. HEARTS for Jesus Christ will challenge Temple Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Temple Christian will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something HEARTS for Jesus Christ surely won't give up without a fight. As for Central Christian, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mogadore at 1:00 p.m. on February 24th.
