Baseball Game Preview: Lowry Buckaroos vs. Dayton Dust Devils

For the second straight game, Lowry will face off against Dayton. The Buckaroos will square off against the Dust Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Lowry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Lowry lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Dayton, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Buckaroos were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Dust Devils on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Buckaroos as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

ReiCyan Grau was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Lowry: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-12 otherwise. Grau was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Erick Valencia, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Lowry is 7-3 when Valencia posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Casalez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Lowry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Dayton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Lowry, their record now sits at 11-13.
