Basketball Recap: Sharyland's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Sharyland was riding high fresh off their 68-21 takedown of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sharyland Rattlers took a 43-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rattlers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-39 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Sharyland lost, don't look at Mariajose Gomez. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 11 en route to 16 points and eight boards. Gomez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Shahin, who posted five points and five rebounds.

Sharyland's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-13. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they have been performing well recently as they've won 18 of their last 23 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 25-10 record this season.

Sharyland has already played their next contest (against Donna), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North will square off against Rivera at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th. Rivera will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North surely won't give up without a fight.
