Baseball Recap: Mooresville Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hanover Central, Mooresville was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Morgan Township Cherokees.

Liam Delp was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Kiernan Herald tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Nate Daley, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Kaden Bruhn was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Mooresville's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Morgan Township, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7-1 record this season.

Mooresville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-2 loss against Perry Meridian on the 22nd. As for Morgan Township, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-1 defeat against Kouts on the 21st.
