The St. John Fighting Herald suffered their biggest loss since December 28, 2023 on Wednesday. They were beaten by Conneaut 63-36. St. John has struggled against Conneaut recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, St. John had strong showings from Mickey Zheng, who scored 11 points along with seven steals, and alyssa cevera, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That was a full 44.4% of St. John's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. gracie disalvatore was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Conneaut was led to victory by Kayla Farley and Isabella Fix. Farley dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds, while Fix scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Farley continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexis Kiser, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Conneaut, they pushed their record up to 5-9 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
St. John will be playing in front of their home fans against Harding at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Harding focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. As for Conneaut, they will head out on the road to face off against Cardinal at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
