After two games on the road, Hartshorne is heading back home. They will take on The Liberty Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Hartshorne never let their opponents score. They really took it to Allen for the full four quarters, racking up a 40-0 victory on the road. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Hartshorne had established a 32 point advantage.
Hartshorne can attribute much of their success to Jackson Moody, who rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and Acetin Rowell, who rushed for 73 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Liberty entered their tilt with Mounds with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Liberty claimed a resounding 62-24 victory over Mounds at home. With Liberty ahead 35-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Trent Thompson got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 182 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 83 yards and a touchdown. Jaylen Prestridge was another key contributor, rushing for 104 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Another reason for the win was Liberty's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Hartshorne is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Liberty, their win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Hartshorne has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 214.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've been even better at 219.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Hartshorne strolled past Liberty in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 34-20. Does Hartshorne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Liberty turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
