Cimarron has gone a perfect 6-0 against Hugoton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bluejays will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Cimarron is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Lakin hit Cimarron with a five-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bluejays came up short against the Broncs, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bluejays have suffered since April 2nd.
Cimarron saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quinn Campbell, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Hugoton came into Thursday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Lakin 7-6 on Thursday.
Maddie Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emery Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Kinley Howie was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
Hugoton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Hugoton's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Cimarron, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season.
Hugoton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cimarron has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Hugoton, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given Cimarron's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Cimarron got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Hugoton by a conclusive 22-8 score. Do the Bluejays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
