Softball Recap: Grant Park Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Grant Park and Donovan meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Dragons beat the Wildcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-7. With that win, the Dragons brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Reegan Thompson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Sluis, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Grant Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Donovan only posted an OBP of .269.

Grant Park pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Donovan, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Grant Park will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Kankakee at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Donovan, they will face off against Momence at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Momence Athletics at the right time seeing as the Momence Athletics are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
