Baseball Recap: Constitution Starts Season with Win on the Road

Constitution had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Tacony Academy Charter Lions 27-12 on Friday. The Generals have beaten the Lions the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lions has come to flipping the script.

Constitution let Owen Davis and Cole McLaughlin run wild. Davis scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances, while McLaughlin scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in six of his seven plate appearances. Those four runs gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Dingman, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Constitution always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .722. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .515 that Tacony Academy Charter posted.

Coming up, Constitution will square off against George Washington at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tacony Academy Charter, they have already played their next matchup, a 5-3 loss against West Philadelphia on the 18th.
