Bethesda-Chevy Chase has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Quince Orchard Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bethesda-Chevy Chase focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Bethesda-Chevy Chase was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to Clarksburg.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Frances Doyle, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Elisha Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Quince Orchard suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 63-29 loss at the hands of Whitman. While losing is never fun, Quince Orchard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Whitman is ranked 28th).
Kelly Adams was Quince Orchard's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Kasey Rappaport held things down on the boards with six rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Bethesda-Chevy Chase's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-2. Quince Orchard's record is now 7-7.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Bethesda-Chevy Chase hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.4 points per game. It's a different story for Quince Orchard, though, as they've been averaging only 38.6 points per game. The only thing between Bethesda-Chevy Chase and another offensive beatdown is Quince Orchard. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Bethesda-Chevy Chase was able to grind out a solid win over Quince Orchard when the teams last played back in January of 2019, winning 52-45. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Quince Orchard's Makayla Wright, who scored 14 points along with seven steals. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Bethesda-Chevy Chase to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
