Basketball Recap: Titusville Comes Up Short

Titusville lost against Merritt Island Christian back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Titusville Terriers fell 60-48 to the Merritt Island Christian Cougars. The Terriers just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Titusville lost, don't look at Kennedie Sanders. Despite the final result, she went 12 of 21 en route to 32 points along with eight boards and eight steals. Sanders' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Braniyah Brown was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Titusville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Merritt Island Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Summer Snaith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. What's more, Snaith also racked up eight steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Keri Shea, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 assists.

Titusville's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Merritt Island Christian, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Titusville has already played their next contest (against Eau Gallie), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Merritt Island Christian has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Calvary Chapel Academy.
