The West Union Dragons struggled with assists on Thursday (the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. West Union was beaten by the Mustangs 64-25. West Union was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.
West Union's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Madison Stout, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Emily Stapleton who scored five points.
Lynchburg-Clay's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addison West, who scored 17 points along with three steals. West is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Macy Etienne, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
West Union has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Lynchburg-Clay, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Union will square off against the Mohawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lynchburg-Clay, they will head out on the road to take on the Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
