Gilmour Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Olentangy Liberty Patriots on Friday, sneaking past 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Lancers sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row dating back to last season.
Gilmour Academy was dominant in they sets they won, taking each by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-14, 25-12.
Gilmour Academy found their leader in freshman Avery Martin, who had 16 digs and three assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Terranova, who had five digs and three aces.
Gilmour Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 19 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
