Make it 13 blowout wins for the Cross Stingrays this season. They breezed by Charleston Collegiate on the road to the tune of 53-23 on Wednesday. 53 seems to be a good number for Cross as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Cross was led to victory by PJ Benson and Ryan Mayers. Benson scored 16 points along with two blocks, while Mayers dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Mayers hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Wilson, who scored nine points.
Cross is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Charleston Collegiate, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cross will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Beaufort Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Stingrays are ranked 93rd). As for Charleston Collegiate, they will head out on the road to challenge the Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Curtis Baptist will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
