The Cranston West Falcons will head out on the road to  square off against  the Cumberland Clippers  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Cranston West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3  runs per game  this season.
Cranston West is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another  one of Rhode Island's top teams: Pilgrim, who was ranked second  at the time (Cranston West was ranked seventh). The Falcons put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp  12-3 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their one-run performance the  matchup before.
 Mia Crudale spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

 Meanwhile, Cumberland lost  15-9 to Prout on Wednesday. The  loss   continues a  trend for the Clippers in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost three in a row.
 Cranston West is  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record  this season. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Cumberland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.
 Cranston West beat Cumberland 6-1  in their previous matchup  back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
